Katharine was born in Dayton\, Ohio\, on August 19\, 1874\, and was the youngest of five surviving children of Bishop and Susan Wright. She was very instrumental in the success of her brothers’ project from helping run the bicycle shop\, to packing supplies for their experiments and handling their official correspondence and relations with the press.
