DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Weaving a Legacy: Ho-Chunk Black Ash Basketry is opening Aug. 3 and runs until Nov. 10. This exhibition introduces audiences to the historically important and visually striking tradition of Native basketmaking in Wisconsin. It features 200 baskets by more than 40 Ho-Chunk makers\, from the mid-1800’s to the present. This groundbreaking exhibition presents this subject for the first time. The exhibition features 30 works that capture the complex and emotional liminal spaces occupied by asylum seekers\, migrant workers\, refugees\, and other immigrants living in the United States. This is the artist’s first solo museum exhibition. It runs Aug. 3 through Nov. 24.

From their inception in the early 1950s and up until recently\, The Drifters have a symbiotic relationship with Rock & Roll legend George Treadwell\, who’s discovered and managed such famous artists as Dinah Washington\, Sarah Vaughn and Nina Simone. The Treadwell Family was there when the original Drifters formed and was responsible for guiding their career through twenty years of uninterrupted hits that have made them the second most successful recording artist of all time\, according to Billboard Magazine.
